“Winnie the Pooh: Honey Sweet Home” by Allyphant

Summary: Sora can’t accept this. The 100 Acre Wood is an escape he needs when being a keyblade wielder becomes too much. He can’t bear to lose it.

If I had a nickel for every time Allyphant wrote a story for March Caprice that centered around Sora’s birthday, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s GR8 that it happened twice cuz both have been such amazing pleasures to read!

I had a big lump in my throat reading this. This is art. Every time I thought I couldn’t get kicked in the feels even MORE ahhhhh

It’s such a powerful exploration of grief, of having to say goodbye to people or things that we treasured during our childhoods, not necessarily because of them but because our lives change and priorities shift. We can’t spend as much time with friends or indulge in stories like Winnie-the-Pooh because we’ve got work and other responsibilities vying for our attention. Sora wants to spend as much time in the 100 Acre Wood as he used to, but he can’t.

Sora’s grief and dread over having to permanently say goodbye to Pooh hurt my heart. And all of this makes the ending that much more beautiful and poignant. Because there ISN’T an expiration date for enjoying “kid stuff” like Disney. The “for all ages” change was perfect, as was the hint that Sora is going to look for Christopher Robin so that he can reunite with Pooh. AHHHHHH

as soon as i heard the premise i knew i was hooked. sora aging out of the book and being part of the source of losing his connection with pooh? brilliant! this one brought actual tears to my eyes, seeing how desperate sora is to maintain his connection, and also seeing how donald and goofy are willing to help. sora is special in more ways than one, and i think this piece really highlights his optimism and truly unique spirit. i’m so glad we have a writing entry to celebrate him once again this year!
